Bushnell Golf Rangefinders - Comparison Chart

Bushnell has a wide variety of golf rangefinders in their sport optics division. They make both horizontal and vertical style golf rangefinders and offer magnification ranges from 4x to 7x. Bushnell currently has the most talked about golf rangefinder on the market; the Bushnell Hybrid Laser GPS as the name implies it is both a rangefinder and a golf GPS unit combined into one device. Below are rangefinder features unique to Bushnell golf rangefinders.

Common Features
Pinseeker: This is Bushnell’s target priority technology that aids in picking out the flag even when against a background of other objects. When the rangefinder picks up more than one object in a single reading it will display the closer of the two objects, which is helpful when trying to range a distant flag with trees or other objects behind it. The unique feature of Pinseeker compared to other target priority systems is that it will let you know when it has received two readings at once by displaying a little flag with a circle around it; this means that displayed reading is the closer of the two ranged objects.

Tripod Mounts: All current Bushnell golf range finders have a built in tripod mount.  Having a tripod mount allows these units to be mounted to your golf cart for easy transportation, which means you don’t have to make room for a rangefinder in your bag. Another advantage is that they can be mounted on a mono pod Bushnell makes to fit a cart’s umbrella holder for a more steady rest while ranging targets.

Slope: This feature is used to take the angle of the shot into account whether it is an incline or decline. In this mode the rangefinder will display the actual distance to the flag, the slope of the shot in degrees, and the “Play As” distance. The slope feature is available on the Pro 1600 Slope and Tour V2 Slope editions and is not legal for tournament play.

Other Common Features: Bushnell golf rangefinders are all capable of reading in either yards or meters, and also feature a scan mode.  These rangefinders are all backed with a two year warranty against defects in material and workmanship except the new Hybrid Laser GPS which carries a one year warranty.  Bushnell golf range finders all utilize a LCD display screen, and display the last reading for 30 seconds before powering down.

Bushnell Golf Rangefinder Reviews

Bushnell Hybrid – The Bushnell Hybrid is both a golf rangefinder and golf gps all rolled into one unit. The rangefinder part of this unit is based on the popular Bushnell Tour V2 series and does not feature the Bushnell Slope feature so the Bushnell Hybrid Laser GPS is still legal for tournament play. The GPS part contains over 16000 courses and can be programmed for course not already loaded.

Bushnell Pro 1M – The new Bushnell Pro 1M series appears to be replacing the aging but very successful line of Pro 1600 series rangefinders. The Pro 1M gets a bump up in yardage capability with a max range of 1760 yards or one mile but list max range as about 500 yards on reading the flag.  The Pro 1M series of golf rangefinders also feature Bushnell’s Vivid Display Technology which is a red display readout that features several adjustable brightness settings for various light conditions.  The Bushnell Pro 1M Slope version is equipped with the Slope technology as the name implies and is not legal for tournament play.

Bushnell Tour Z6 – Another new addition to the Bushnell golf range finder product line, the Bushnell Tour Z6 is currently scheduled for release in April 2012. Like the Pro 1M rangefinders the new Tour Z6 while also feature the red Vivid Display Technology, and a new ESP (Extreme Speed Precision) feature that is designed for more precise readings at shorter ranges. Unlike the Pro 1M series which is a 7x horizontal style golf rangefinder the Tour Z6 will be a 6x vertical style rangefinder.

Bushnell Pro 1600 - This Bushnell golf rangefinder is available in two models the Bushnell Pro 1600 Slope and Bushnell Pro 1600 Tournament Edition.  These units are designed to be held horizontally like binoculars and are waterproof.  The only real notable difference between the two is that the Slope Edition features Bushnell's angle compensation technology which gives a more precise reading of steep angle shots.  Both models have 7x magnification and a max ranging capability of 1600 yards; however, the will only range the flag out to about 400 yards.

Bushnell Tour V2 - These Bushnell laser rangefinders are also available in two series, the Bushnell Tour V2 Slope  and  Bushnell Tour V2.  Again the only real difference between these two models is the Slope Edition features the Slope technology while the standard Tour V2 does not.  Unlike the Pro 1600 series the Tour V2 series is held vertically; has 5x magnification and is rated as "rainproof" instead of waterproof.  Max range of these units is 1000 yards, with flag readings out to 300 yards.

Bushnell Medalist - The Bushnell Medalist golf laser rangefinder has 4x magnification and is held horizontally like the Pro 1600's.  Like the Tour V2, the Medalist has a maximum ranging ability of 1000 yards and ranges flags out to 300 yards.  This unit does not utilize Bushnell's Slope technology and is rated "rainproof." However, as the Bushnell golf rangefinders comparison chart shows this would make a good entry level or budget range finder.
