Bushnell Pro 1600 Tournament - Review

Cumulative Review Score: 95(41)

Bushnell Pro 1600 TournamentThe Bushnell Pro 1600 Tournament rangefinder had a fairly good sampling of user reviews to sift through. One common theme in these reviews was that the owner's appreciated the extra magnification this unit offered, especially on longer shots. Almost equally important was the Pro 1600's horizontal design, which allows for a steadier hold than vertical design rangefinders. The Pinseeker technology also met with approval as golfers were able to get readings without problem even though the Pro 1600 has a 7x magnification. This unit also received praise for its clear optics, using a standard 9 volt battery, and waterproof design. There were a few complaints about Pro 1600 model; the main one being its large size, and weight. However, most users seemed to understand that this is the trade off of having a higher magnification, and longer ranging rangefinder. Rounding out the criticism for this unit; some users had trouble with the battery door.

Owner's Manual:
The Pro 1600 Tournament is a larger unit than some if the other Bushnell golf rangefinders; this 12 oz unit weighs nearly twice as much as the Bushnell V2 Series.  However, its size allows it to feature a 7x magnification in a horizontally designed rangefinder which allows the user to hold it more like a pair of binoculars. Also, its larger stature permits for the use of a common 9 volt alkaline battery. Like all Bushnell Golf Rangefinders it features the Pinseeker technology for locking onto the pin while measuring. Finally, this unit measures in at 5.1" x 3.7" x 1.7" so don't plan on wearing this one on your belt.

Notes:
This is a large rangefinder, so it you are looking for one to put in your pocket this isn't it.  The Pro 1600 rangefinder is for those that want to have enough magnification and ranging power to read distance targets with ease. The Bushnell Pro 1600 Tournament doesn't have all the bells and whistles of Pro 1600 Slope edition; however, it is legal for tournament play. Update: The Bushnell Pro 1600 series rangefinders have been replaced with an updated version called the Bushnell Pro 1M series. However, the Pro 1600 is currently still available at many retailers and can often found at reduced prices.
