Bushnell-Scout 1000 ARC - Review | Specifications | Competition
Cumulative Review Score: 89(75)
While reading the numerous available user reviews for the Bushnell Scout 1000 ARC it became clear that a lot of the people who purchased this model were using it for both rifle and archery hunting. There was much praise for the units versatility allowing it to be used for all types of hunting at various ranges. The Scout 1000 laser rangefinder also received favorable reviews for its ease of operation, this was surprising as this model has a quite a few options, many users commented on an instructional CD that came with there unit as being helpful. People who purchased this rangefinder also frequently expressed their approval of its compact size and clear optics. There were a few complaints on this unit, they were: small hard to read display numbers, and marginal low light performance. Perhaps the most interesting complaint, mentioned by a couple reviewers, is this unit will not give you an angle compensated yardage distance in rifle mode, only a line of sight yardage reading and a holdover measurement in inches (or cm), which does factor in the angle of the shot. However, the bow mode will give you an angle compensated distance in yards but only out to 99 yards. The Scout 1000 ARC is a versatile unit that competes in both the archery rangefinder and dual purpose rangefinder categories, click the links below to see how it faired against the competition.

Owner's Manual Highlights:
The Bushnell Scout 1000 was made with and without the ARC feature so if you are wanting the ARC feature make sure the particular model you are looking at has it. The owner's manual states that 600 yards is the maximum distance to expect this unit to read on most objects under normal circumstances, but that under ideal conditions on highly reflective objects the maximum range is 1000 yards. The Scout 1000 ARC unit has three targeting modes: Standard which includes a scan option, Brush which if the rangefinder detects two objects in the target area will report the furthest one, and BullsEye, which works much like the Brush mode only in reverse, which when two objects are detected it gives a reading on the closer target.
LRR Thoughts:
The Bushnell Scout 1000 ARC rangefinder has numerous useful features for hunting with both rifle and bow. The one thing to be sure of is that you are ok with not recieving angle compensated readings in yards while in the rifle mode. Also, if you plan on using the holdover mode that displays angle compensated readings in inches be prepared to spend some time matching your specific rifle and ammo setup to the rifle mode that matches it the best. Overall this is a solid unit that would serve as a good all around rangefinder.
