Bushnell Elite 1 Mile CONX Combo Resource Page
The capabilities of the Bushnell Elite 1 Mile CONX Combo with the included Kestrel Sportsman are impressive to say the least. However, I would rank the setup somewhere in the moderate to somewhat difficult range depending on your level of experience and smartphone type. Since, I just went through the process and found a number of good resources and discovered a few tips of my own I decided to make a page to help those getting their Bushnell CONX combo with Kestrel into action. Here are a list of apps, instructions, and videos that will likely be helpful during the set up process.

Panhandle Precision did a five part series nearly an hour long on the Kestrel 5700 Elite which is a slightly more advanced version of the Kestrel Sportsman that is included in Bushnell Elite 1 Mile CONX Combo kit. However, the Elite 5700 Kestrel and Sportsman 5700 Kestrel work almost identical, but there are a few minor differences so don't get to hung up on every little detail. Basically this is a good overview of the Kestrel setup, function, and application. Note these videos focus on the Kestrel 5700 Elite setup and to some extent connecting to a smartphone, so the Kestrel to Bushnell CONX connection and its setup and application are not addressed.

*Note Calibrating the Compass was difficult as described in the instructions and by difficult I mean impossible at least for me. I was finally able to calibrate the compass by putting the Kestrel in the "U" shaped weather vane mount and placing a pencil in the bottom threaded portion of the mount. This allowed me to spin the unit on its vertical access without all the wobble I was previously getting; however, I had to go much faster than the 10 seconds per rotation stated in the manual and on the Kestrel screen. The Kestrel display screen counts successful revolutions 1/3, 2/3, and 3/3 to let you know where you are in the calibration process. This was one of the hardest parts of the set up because it didn't work for me as described in the manual, so despite a dozen or so failed attempts, I was able to get it on the second try with the method I described with the pencil.
