The Leupold RX 1000 TBR model is a feature rich, light, compact rangefinder.  The majority of reviewers felt that this unit gave the operator plenty of options and yet was still manageable; however, there were a few reviewers that felt that this model had too many options and preferred a less complicated model.  The other complaint that was mentioned several times was difficulty in reading this units display in bright conditions, this is because the unit has a red readout.  On the other hand, many users praised its easy to read display in low light conditions, the flip side of having a red display. Most reviewers complimented this device on its clear optics, lightweight, and compact size.

Owner’s Manual:
The RX 1000 TBR shares its owner’s manual with the RX -1000 which does not have the TBR feature.  The main thing learned in the manual was that both models have an option to brighten the display readout, by manually picking from one of three preprogrammed settings.  Also, as with other TBR rangefinders, angle compensated ranges, while in bow mode, stop at 60 yards after which readings are displayed in line of sight distance.

LRR Thoughts:
While a little less economical than some of its competition, the Leupold RX-1000 TBR model does offer more options and the adjust display brightness mode is a nice feature.  It is also very compact and features the 6x magnification that hunters look for in a dual purpose rangefinder.  The model RX 1000 TBR (Update: The lastest version is the Leupold RX-1000i TBR with DNA) competes in the dual purpose rangefinder class.
