Leupold Vendetta Rangefinder

Preliminary Leupold Vendetta Review:

Leupold Vendetta Bow Mounted RangefinderLeupold has introduced a new archery rangefinder, the Leupold Vendetta Rangefinder.  This one is definitely designed for bow hunters.  The Vendetta rangefinder actually mounts to your bow's riser and is operated by a button at the end of a lead that attaches to your bow grip.  This unit displays readings much like a radar gun with the yardage being shown in red led lights on the back of the device, which allows for the unit to be used at full draw.  While it is legal in all the United States for recreational purposes; it is only legal in a little over half of the US for hunting purposes.

Overview:
The Vendetta comes with a universal aluminum mounting bracket that attaches to your bow's riser, this provides a platform for the rangefinder to be mounted on.  This will put the device back and above your sight pins so you still have an easy view of the display and it does not block your pins.  The Leupold Vendetta rangefinder has a visible laser which is used to zero the unit.  This is done by selecting the top pin and aiming at a target, you then adjust the visible laser on the rangefinder to make sure it is ranging on a line that is parallel with the top pin.  The rangefinder is then aimed with the pin it is synchronized with so there in no visible laser emitting from the rangefinder after the sighting in is done. The Vendetta rangefinder has Leupold's TBR technolgy built in and will display readings from 10 to 70 yards. Also, after the intial reading has been taken the unit has a scan function that lets you get continuous readings on the animal you are ranging.

Summary
The early reviews on the Leupold Vendetta rangefinder are trickling in and there seems to be a few themes developing. The first being that many users are having difficulty mounting this leupold range finder to their bow. If you watch the video on the link below you can see that it is somewhat of a process, so be sure and watch the video and have an afternoon free to get it all setup.  How many of these mounting problems are "operator error" is difficult to tell. The mounting complaints ranged from the trigger cord being short, to the mount not working with a particular model of bow and the rangefinder blocking the view of the pins. As bad as the mounting complaints were, the opinion's of those that were able to get the device mounted were very positive. So the current concensus seems to be that the Vendetta is difficult or at least not easy to get mounted and setup, but is good unit once/if you make it past the initial setup process. Before you decide on buying a a Vendetta rangefinder it would be wise to 1) Click Here to watch a Leupold Vendetta tutorial to see if this looks like something you could get mounted. 2) Take a look at our comparison of archery rangefinders and the reasoning behind the Editor's pick.
