Score

Score GraphicLaser Rangefinder Review has developed its own unique way of rating laser rangefinders.  After much thought and consideration the Cumulative Review Score was developed.  One of the most useful tools you can use when buying almost anything online is user reviews of the product.  However, there are still some problems with using user reviews; listed below are some examples of reviews that do not provide useful information about the product and can skew the product's rating.

' I ordered this rangefinder for my once in a lifetime moose hunt and even though I was promised it would arrive in time it did not. 1 out of 5 Stars' (Translation: Customer service sucked and am using the product review section to complain and vent)

'I gave this rangefinder to my husband for his birthday and he said he "loves it". 5 out of 5 Stars' (Translation: Beats the tie I got last year)

'I went on a elk hunt and shot a monster bull, my buddies were all there, great time and freezer full of meat, might even be the state record. Oh and had this rangefinder with me can't remember if i used it or not though. 5 out of 5 Stars' (Translation: Just shot a big bull and wanted to let everyone know)

'I just unpacked this rangefinder and it looks really cool, I'm sure it will work perfectly' (Translation: I just got a new toy and am so excited I wrote a useless review)

User reviews can also be difficult to find in large numbers, sometimes a website will only have a handful, and often the reviews will be split between the camo and standard versions leaving even more digging for you to try and find some decent reviews.  Laser Rangefinder Review searches big and small websites for user reviews, then weeds out the useless reviews and combines the most useful reviews to come up with a score based on a 100 point system.

Below is a example of how a Cumulative Review Score is calculated.

Useful Review #1:  5 out of 5 = 100

Useful Review #2:  3 out of 5 = 60

Useful Review #3:  3 out of 5 = 60

Total score 100 + 60 + 60 = 220

Number of reviews = 3

Total Score divided by number of reviews   220/3 = 73.33  round to nearest whole number 73

So the Cumulative Review Score for our example would be 73(3)

It is important to note that a $200 rangefinder that scores 95 is not necessarily better than a $600 rangefinder that scores 90.  This is because user reviews factor in price (i.e. 'for $200 this is a great rangefinder' and 'for $600 I expected this rangefinder to perform better)  So the $600 rangefinder that scored 90 might out perform the $200 rangefinder that scored 95 in every possible category. The important thing to remember is value is accounted for in user reviews.
