Bushnell Medalist Laser Rangefinder Review

Cumulative Review Score: 90(71)

MedalistThe Bushnell Medalist laser rangefinder had a large number of reviews to sort through. Many of the reviewers felt that this model offered a great value for its relatively inexpensive price tag when compared to other golf rangefinders. Users really liked the Pinseeker feature found on this Bushnell golf range finder, which they felt helped them to pick up the flag readings quicker. Owners also appreciated its compact size and the fact that it uses a common 9 volt battery. Furthermore, these reviewers appreciated the simplicity of this device and found it easy to use. On the downside users felt that this unit was a little difficult hold steady, which is why so many of them appreciated the Pinseeker feature. Next, a few reviewers mentioned that they would occasionally get false readings, and had gotten in the habit of double checking their reading by ranging the flag twice.

Owners Manual:
The Bushnell Medalist manual pretty well confirms this unit is a basic rangefinder designed specifically for golfers. Not a lot of bells and whistles but it does have a scan mode and the much liked Pinseeker mode which lets you know when you have a lock on the flag. The manual also shows that this unit has a 4x magnification, which is notably less than most current production rangefinders. This is viewed by some as a positive as it allows you to hold the device off hand easier than higher magnification units; however, the flip side is that picking up the pin a several hundred yards will probably we harder with lower magnification. The Medalist also uses the more common 9 volt alkaline battery for its power, and gives readings accurate to within + or - 1& yard.

The Bushnell Medalist is a budget golf rangefinder with a pretty solid track record. It is a simple rangefinder, designed to give you readings on the flag and report the distance. It uses a common 9 volt battery and is designed for use on the golf course. The bottom line is that if you want a simple to use, relatively inexpensive golf rangefinder the Medalist deserves a serious look.
